Abu Dhabi: T.P Seetharam will be the new Indian Ambassador to the UAE.

Currently posted in Mauritius, Seetharam is expected to take charge in the UAE by the end of December, M.K. Lokesh, the present Indian Ambassador to the UAE, told Gulf News on Tuesday.

As Gulf News reported on September 19, Lokesh was appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Switzerland.

He has served in the UAE since April 2010.

In Switzerland Lokesh will have additional charge of two other countries - the Vatican and Liechtenstein, a landlocked country bordering Switzerland and Austria.

Seetharam has been the Indian High Commissioner to Mauritius since September 2011. Indian Ambassadors to the Commonwealth Nations (former British colonies) are designated as ‘High Commissioner’.

Born in 1956 in the south Indian state of Kerala, Seetharam is a postgraduate in English Literature.

He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1980 and has since served in Indian diplomatic missions and posts in Hong Kong, Lusaka, Windhoek, Beijing, Phonm Penh, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Geneva and Bangkok.

He has also worked as the press secretary to the former Indian President K.R Narayanan.

He is married to Deepa Seetharam and has a son and a daughter.
