Dubai Police will replace within weeks the existing traffic fines cash payment machines with touch-screen kiosks that will only accept payments by credit cards, according to a Dubai Police senior official.

The kiosks, a developed version of Etisalat bill payment machines, will accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Electron credit cards, said Essa Al Jallaf, Dubai Police's strategic planning and decision making director.

To facilitate future registrations of new cars, Dubai Police is working with car agents to electronically provide the traffic department with data on new cars sold, buyers' names and all related details once deals are finalised.

Until now, New car registrations are finalised at showrooms by designated police staff, who will not be located there in the future, added Al Jallaf.

Online issue of 'good conduct', 'lost and found' certificates, liquor licenses for companies, and weapon possession permits are also underway in the future, he noted.
