In the semifinals held yesterday, TIHS defeated Cambridge High School by four wickets while Westminster got the better of His Highness Sheikh Rashid School by five wickets.
Indian High School won the toss and elected to field. Camrbidge got off to a bad start losing opener Anurag for a duck. Pawan kept the scoreboard moving but Stefan and Amrish struck repeatedly.
The top five batsmen were back in the pavilion for just 98. However, Pawan rose to the challenge and went for the runs and remained unbeaten on 92 off 66 balls with 12 fours.
The Indian High School, chasing the modest total of 192 for eight, began badly losing both the openers for 26, Zohaid trapped opener Pawan leg before for six and Puru for a duck. One-drop Jasmeet, kept his cool and took advantage of the bad balls. He got good support from Yash (32). Three-down Amrish, through an unbeaten 32, steered his team to the target.
In another semifinal, Sheikh Rashid school were bowled out for 107 in just 21 overs. Hamdan (three for 21), Zeeshan (two for 26) and Nazeer (two for 14) were the chief wreckers.
Their consistent openers Farhan and Faizan could not get going. Except for five-down batsman Qasim (32) none of the batsmen managed to stay at the wicket.
Wesminster opener Zeeshan (41) gave a good start. Though Qasim picked two quick wickets, the small total did not pose any challenge to the rest of the batsmen.
