Three Asians - two women and a man - were rescued on Saturday evening after their car veered off the road, hitting a barricade and landing in the waters of the Khalid Lagoon, a Sharjah Police official told Guld News on Sunday.

The driver was distracted by a fire that was raging at a wooden dhow in Khalid Port.

Onlookers jumped in the water and rescued the trio who were stuck in the car.

The police and ambulance were alerted and rushed to the scene of the incident.

Police said all three are in a good condition after being safely rescued from the car that sank.

Sharjah Police urged motorists to pay attention to the road while driving and not be distracted even for a second.
