Ajman: A number of specialised committees and task teams have been formed by Ajman's Municipality and Planning Department to visit and inspect coffee and shisha shops that will open in the evening during the month of Ramadan.

The teams will check the health and safety measures in the inspected coffee shops in addition to the validity of their licences and other regulations set by the department.

The General Health Section at Ajman's municipality had also arranged an inspection campaign on coffee shops upon the launching of the 2010 World Cup, where 6 coffee shops were given violation tickets and 12 coffee shops warned for not following the required rules regarding health and environment licence permit's regulations

Engineer Khalid Mueen Al Housani, head of the General Health and Environment Section at the Department, said during a press conference that the municipality aims at providing a healthy, clean and comfortable environment to both nationals, residents and tourists in Ajman.

He added that the department set out to welcome the month of Ramadan by coordinating and cooperating with all the relevant bodies and authorities in the emirate to carry out a number of inspection and field visits to coffee shops and similar locations.

The task teams will also offer guidelines and pointers clarifying rules.
