Booking a Dubai Transport taxi has become interactive with the introduction of a Voice Response service which identifies your address. Once you have registered your home address with the Dispatch Centre, a computer will recognise your telephone number and know where you live each time you call.
A voice message asks if you would like to make an immediate or advanced booking and the Global Positioning System will send the nearest taxi to your location.
Khalid Hashim, Director of Information Technology, said the new system allows a taxi to be booked within five seconds and the cab should arrive in seven to 10 minutes. "The system is still under test, but 14,000 bookings were made during June using interactive Voice Response," he said.
