Talent fair to attract more UAE students
The annual House of Talent exhibition, organised at Shindagha under the patronage of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, will see huge participation from students.
It will launch the careers of women, among whom is the first batch of graduates majoring in tourism from the Dubai Women's College of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
More than 100 students from the UAE University will take part and showcase their work of art, while students of the Zayed Uni-versity majoring in arts and fashion, among others, will also take part in the exhibition.
The exhibition will dedicate an area for three-day consecutive periods to students from UAE schools to exhibit handcrafts.
It aims to encourage women to display their talents in different fields and expose them to public and private sectors so that their talent can be developed through long-term partnerships.
Najwa Al Rahma, research and development director of Dubai Shopping Festival, said: "Last Dubai Shopping Festival, the House of Talents was very successful in helping young women specialising in photography, handicrafts and designing to start profitable enterprises.
"This year, we are confident that several others, including the students from the Higher Colleges of Techno-logy, will be able to show their talent and business acumen."
Registration for the exhibition has been going on for a month. Those wishing to take part as exhibitors must fill an application form available at the DSF office and submit samples of their creative work to the selection committee.
The House of Talents exhibition was launched in 1999 featuring works of 72 women in 12 rooms. The event will be held at the Sheikh Obaid bin Thani House at the Heritage and Diving Village in Al Shindagha.
