Dubai: A Syrian man’s wish to meet his mother whom he hadn’t seen for 15 years recently came true, thanks to a special public initiative called Omniyati by the Al Ghurair Centre.
Mohammad Abdulla, who has been living in Dubai for 17 years, said he hadn’t seen his mother for the last 15 years as he could not afford to travel back home. His mother too could not come to Dubai due to prior health complications.
But when he expressed his desire to see her in the Omniyati campaign, his wish was chosen from among 9,000 entries to be fulfilled. His mother will now be flown down to Dubai, so he can meet her.
It was the happiest day of my life when I got the news, I couldn’t have asked for more.”

“I can’t express in words how grateful I am. With the grace of Allah and with such a kind initiative by Al Ghurair Centre, I will be able to meet my mom,” said Abdulla.
“It was the happiest day of my life when I got the news, I couldn’t have asked for more.”
Running for the second year in a row, the initiative chose two other wishes to be fulfilled: those of Magy El Najjar and Ahmad Ali.
Magy, a Dubai mum who recently gave birth to her first child, said she could not afford to buy some essential items for her newborn.
“But my husband and I decided to try our luck under Omniyati. I have never participated in any such initiatives before and this came as a huge surprise to me. My baby girl is my lucky charm,” said Magy, who received shopping vouchers from Al Ghurair Centre to buy essentials for her baby.
Similarly, Ali, a construction engineer with a heart of gold, had his wish granted to buy clothes for 30 underprivileged kids.
“I was planning to buy new clothes for poor kids, but was unable to get any sponsors. This initiative came at the perfect time and I feel so lucky to have won this with God’s grace.”
Under the initiative, visitors to the mall had to log on to the Omniyati website to nominate themselves, a friend or a relative who they believed should have a special wish come true.
