In an effort to upgrade local technical skills, Middle East Switchgear has launched the UAE's first hands-on switchboards training centre, which will give training free of charge.
A brainchild of Allauddin Chughtai, managing director, the project has been launched through a strategic partnership with the company's French principal, the Legrand Group.
"While electrical engineering students in most other parts of the world get hands-on training as part of the course curricula, in this region pupils often have no first-hand experience of actual design, assembly and installation of panel and distribution boards," he explained.
The company will offer training to electrical engineering students, technicians, contractors, and even consultants, architects and traders, who need to know about panel and distribution boards assembly and installation techniques.
The centre will take on batches of 20 students at a time. While open initially to students and MES and Legrand customers and professionals in the UAE, it will gradually be extended to cover the entire Gulf.
