Sweden will open an embassy in the UAE next autumn, a Swedish diplomat announced yesterday. Thomas Ganslandt, the outgoing Swedish ambassador to Kuwait, who was also accredited to the UAE, announced the decision during a visit to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) here.

DTCM Director-General Khalid bin Sulayem, said an embassy would enhance links between the two countries. "Bilateral relations are bound to grow even stronger after this," he said.

The DTCM has an office in Stockholm which promotes Dubai among Scandinavian travellers.
