Spongebob, The Smurfs enliven Dubai Summer Surprises

Dubai: Children enjoy watching some of their favourite carton characters come alive in malls during the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

Characters like SpongeBob and The Smurfs are some of the famous figures appearing in shopping malls shows.

“We are huge fans of SpongeBob. We like watching him on television, and now we’re very happy to finally have the chance to see him in a live show. It’s great to see him singing and dancing onstage,” said Lara, who was accompanied by her sisters Noora and Lana Banafa from Saudi Arabia, who watched the SpongeBob SquarePants in a live show titled “Krabby Patty Celebration”at the Dubai Marina Mall .

SpongeBob SquarePants also features his underwater friends, making it more exciting for children to watch. Children were entertained as SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom buddies fight the evil plans of Plankton.

Also, huge crowds of families gathered around the main stage of Mirdif City Centre, Families receive amazing fanfare and festivity out of the first ever Middle East staging by the popular cartoon character, The Smurfs. Parents are taking advantage of this opportunity to get their children watch for free the debut stage show titled A Very Smurfy Festival.

According to Dubai-based Lebanese Fatima Gaddar, mother of Karim and Jad Dhaini: “We live in the area and when I saw the posters announcing that The Smurfs are having a show here at Mirdif City Centre, I immediately planned to get my kids to the show. They love The Smurfs that they see regularly on television, and no doubt they enjoyed every minute of this show.”

The Smurfs show features five of the favourite blue characters including Papa Smurf, Smurfette and Gargamel.

The DSS was first launched in 1998 and has since, become one of the major shopping and entertainment events in the region.

Consisting of numerous exciting activities, DSS is key to positioning Dubai as a summer holiday destination.

Shopping malls across Dubai are buzzing with activities organized as part of the DSS.

The DSS, in its 15th edition in 2012, is the largest summer event in the region.

This annual event has helped change the concept of summer in Dubai and put the emirate on the map as an international summer holiday destination. over the years, This year’s festival will run from June 14 to July 14.

DSS has built a reputation as a summer festival making the city of Dubai synonymous with entertainment, shopping rewards, and fun for the whole family during summer.
