Just a few hours away in the Indian Ocean, offering beaches, golf, fishing and fine food, is the "island of dreams" - also known as Mauritius.
The island, which is perfect for a relaxing holiday, is not a well known holiday spot to people in the UAE, says Mina Dominic, holiday supervisor, Nasser Airtravel and Shipping Agencies.
That is why Nasa - which is the general sales agent for airlines including Air Mauritius, Alitalia and Olympic Airways - has put together a special brochure to promote the holiday spot.
Until recently, Air Mauritius operated a flight once a week between Mauritius and Dubai, but now it has entered a codeshare agreement with Emirates.
Air Mauritius is now selling seats on four flights a week on the route, said Ahmed Jhummun, regional manager, Air Mauritius.
The flights, to be operated by Emirates, depart Dubai on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
On each of the flights, Air Mauritius will be selling five business class seats and 40 economy seats.
Air Mauritius also entered the agreement because it offers better networking, explained Jhum-mun.
Short breaks: In an effort to promote Mauritius to UAE residents, Nasa has put together a brochure offering short break packages.
The packages, which include economy class airfare from Dubai-Mauritius-Dubai, accommodation for five nights and six days, daily breakfast and dinner and return airport transfers, are valud until March 30.
Twin-sharing packages are available from Dh3,840 for a four-star hotel up to Dh7,120 for the five-star Dinarobin hotel.
