Dubai: Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the 10th Knowledge Summit at Dubai World Trade Centre on Wednesday, marking a decade of the global gathering focused on sustainable development through knowledge exchange.
The event's opening coincided with the UAE securing first place in the Arab world on the Global Knowledge Index 2025, underscoring the nation's progress in building a knowledge-based economy. Under the theme 'Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities', the two-day summit brings together experts, policymakers and academics from across the globe.
"Knowledge is the foundation upon which nations are built, and the engine that shapes their future," Sheikha Latifa, told delegates during her opening address. She emphasised that the summit represents Dubai's commitment to creating future-ready communities equipped for rapid global changes.
Sheikha Latifa further noted that investing in knowledge meant investing in human potential. "Investing in knowledge is an investment in people, in their creativity, potential, and ability to shape opportunity," she said, adding that the UAE remains dedicated to strengthening knowledge's role in building a dynamic economy and empowering youth with future skills.
Organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the summit has evolved over ten years into a key platform for addressing global development challenges. This year's programme features panel discussions, workshops and dialogues covering knowledge markets, innovation, sustainability, and technology's role in development.
On the sidelines of the event, Sheikha Latifa met with several ministers and senior officials to discuss enhancing cooperation across institutions. The discussions focused on knowledge exchange as a driver for comprehensive development, with participants stressing the importance of cross-sector collaboration.
