Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday urged the public to provide support to people with special needs and help them fit into mainstream society.
Sheikha Jawaher was speaking to reporters during her visit to an art exhibition held by the Handicapped Guardians Association. Sheikha Jawaher said, "It is great to see paintings by handicapped people displayed alongside those done by professional artists. It shows the support provided by our society for the disabled who really deserve to merge with other community members."
Everyone should provide support to associations and establishments that provide support to the handicapped, she said. "Institutions should extend their cooperation to enable these establishments to carry out their plans," she added.
"We are an Islamic Arabic society based on the principle of providing help to all. Hence, cooperation between people in society should be more important to us than anything else," Sheikha Jawaher said. She also called for more volunteers groups to be set up.
