Moscow: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Thursday held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to Russia.
Shaikh Mohammad conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Putin and his best wishes to the Russian people.
The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Adviser and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest between the two countries were discussed, along with reviewing cooperation relations between the UAE and Russia and the best ways to enhance and develop them on the basis of friendship links between the two countries.
Shaikh Mohammad stressed that the UAE, led by Shaikh Khalifa, is working to develop its bilateral cooperation with Russia to build a better future for the political, economic, trade and investment, energy relations and other fields.
He also noted that holding the fourth meeting of the Joint Commission between the UAE and Russia in the Russian capital Moscow recently translates the mutual keenness to achieve the benefit of both countries in the direction of strengthening bilateral relations and activating aspects of cooperation and diversify the areas of joint action.
The two also exchanged views and opinions on the overall developments and current events on the regional and international levels and the positions of the two countries towards them, especially with regard to fighting terrorism in all its forms and organisations and to emphasize the importance of maintaining global peace and security and to safeguard the stability and peace of the region’s countries
An expanded meeting at a working luncheon hosted by president Putin was attended by Shaikh Mohammad and his accompanying delegation and senior Russian officials.
Cooperation
During the meeting, review of various aspects of cooperation and issues of common concern were discussed, where the two sides stressed that the UAE and Russia are linked by ties of friendship and constructive cooperation based on mutual understanding, mutual respect and a common desire to develop their cooperation and raise them to the best levels.
Earlier in his tour, Shaikh Mohammad visited Sochi on the shores of the Black Sea in Russia, which hosted the Winter Olympics last February.
During the tour, Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Abdullah, Omar Saif Gobash, UAE Ambassador to Russia, and Kirill Dmitriev, chief executive officer of RDIF, the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
The tour included visiting the park’s facilities, including the Sochi Formula 1 Circuit, where Shaikh Mohammad met Sergey Vorobyev, Deputy General-Director of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix, who explained the technical specifications and modern techniques used in the 5.8km circuit.
