Ajman: Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, on Monday inaugurated the new girls’ high school building at Manar Al Iman Charity School in Ajman.

The Dh1.8 million construction was built thanks to HSBC.

Manar Al Iman School is one of the largest charity schools in Ajman and provides free books, breakfast, health insurance, and sponsorships to higher education institutions for their students. The institution has more than 3,000 registered students from across 36 nationalities, and has worked with a number of organisations across the country to facilitate essential educational opportunities.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Justice, Ajman and Chairman of Manar Al Iman Charity School, said: “The private sector plays a significant role in the development of the UAE by contributing to a series of vital projects. The Manar Al Iman School is one of these initiatives, which provides critical services to the underprivileged in the local community, and as a result we have looked to continue growing this organisation through our institutional partnerships. We would like to thank HSBC for their continued efforts in supporting this important project and we look forward to growing our ties with them for future initiatives.”

HSBC’s investment in this project is in line with its focus to contribute to the development of local communities across the UAE. The bank’s financing supported the construction and the furnishing of the girls’ secondary school, which offers free education to orphans and children of low-income families. The building has nine classrooms, two laboratories, two staff rooms, one meeting room, and five offices.

In addition to donating funds for the building’s infrastructure the bank was also responsible for managing the relationship with the construction company. More than 615 students will be accommodated in the new building in the morning and afternoon sessions, which will also house a library, laboratories and computer room.

Abdul Fattah Sharaf, CEO of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited in the UAE, said: “HSBC has a long tradition of working closely with local communities across the country. We have been operating in the UAE for over 60 years and as a result we have helped build crucial elements of society here. This includes supporting training programmes, helping develop cultural awareness and preservation projects, contributing to environmental conservation work, as well as, enhancing the education system through various funding initiatives and volunteer drives.

“Manar Al Iman is a wonderful example of the spirit of the UAE, as it provides education to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it. We felt that the values of HSBC aligned with the organisation and we took the decision to help where we could. In this regard, we are proud to be extending our long engagement with the school and are very happy to see the students benefiting from it. We believe that this project is a wonderful example of a true community partnership — one where time and funding from an organisation is able to benefit so many people.”
