Seven injured in nine-car pileup in Abu Dhabi

Police said the accident occurred due to tailgating - not leaving sufficient distance between vehicles

Abu Dhabi: Seven people were injured in a car pile-up in the downtown Abu Dhabi’s Corniche area on Wednesday evening, Abu Dhabi Police said.

Police said the accident occurred due to tailgating - not leaving sufficient distance between vehicles.

The injuries ranged from minor to moderate and all of them were rushed to the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City hospital for treatment. 

The accident occurred at the traffic junction of Abu Dhabi Corniche and Rashid Bin Saeed roads in the capital.

Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Saeedan Al Mansouri, director of serious accident investigation section of Abu Dhabi Police, urged motorists to leave sufficient distance between vehicles while on the road to avoid accidents.
