Seven injured as van crashes into police car
Seven people were injured when their van collided with a police patrol car on the Al Ain-Dubai highway near Marqab.
One of the seven injured is now in a critical condition. The police officer in the patrol car escaped unhurt.
The accident happened at around 8.30am near Marqab, about 70km from Al Ain. Police said the accident occurred due to speeding and believe the driver of the van, who sustained severe injuries, tried to slow down after spotting a police patrol ahead, but lost control of the wheel.
The van first hit the police patrol from behind and then rammed into the roadside fence. The front of the van was badly damaged and the driver was stuck inside it.
An investigation has been launched to establish the exact cause of the crash.
