Dubai: The second batch of emergency food aid under the Salma initiative will be sent to Gaza following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The first aid plane distributed 100,000 meals to the people of Gaza subjected to Israeli attacks.

Shaikh Mohammad launched the Salma aid project to provide preserved meals to people affected by man-made and natural disasters around the world in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.

The Salma emergency food relief programme is a partnership between the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai and Noor Awqaf — a partnership between Noor and the Foundation created to support the development of Awqaf all over the world in collaboration with the UN Food Programme with the aim of managing the production of food packages and meals that are high quality and 100 per cent halal.

Shaikh Mohammad’s gesture reflects the UAE’s commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza. Further, the Salma programme also reflects the UAE’s keenness to help the needy and distressed people all over the world without any discrimination on the basis of colour, ethnicity or religion.
