Abu Dhabi: It's been more than two months since the two-year-old African lioness named Roots had nearly half of her front teeth extracted and a root canal procedure during an eight-hour corrective surgery.

A vet team from South African extracted 14 out of 30 teeth.

"Roots has ... put on some weight and is not as aggressive as she was before the surgery. She no longer feels any pain in her teeth.

"She's running, walking, playing and eating normally," said Ronel Smuts, Manager of the Abu Dhabi Wildlife Centre.
