Gulf News sent several of its readers from across the UAE to their local supermarkets with a list of fifteen items to check their prices. On the list was: 1kg of local Hammour, 1kg of fresh local minced beef, a 1kg frozen chicken, a 100 bag box of tea, a 5kg bag of local sugar, a 2kg container of vegetable oil, a 1L of bottle of water, a 2.5kg container of powdered milk, a 5kg bag of Basmati rice, a package of 6 small white sandwich rolls, a 1kg bag of tomatoes from the GCC, a 1kg bag of potatoes from the region, a 1kg of imported green apples, a 1kg bag of imported bananas, and a carton of 30 medium-sized eggs.
