Residents to get lessons in safe garbage disposal
Residents in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs should expect a visit by health inspectors who will instruct them about safely disposing of their garbage.
This is part of the Abu Dhabi Municipality's General Health and Environment Department's health awareness campaign to keep Abu Dhabi and its suburbs clean.
According to the municipality, domestically produced wastes are one of the prime causes of disease. It is also one of the most dangerous kinds of waste that lead to many different diseases.
During Ramadan the amount of domestically produced waste increases. The municipality's health inspectors have started distributing leaflets to private homes and establishments stressing the important role of individuals in keeping the environment clean.
They have also outlined a set of rules for properly disposing of domestic waste. The department has urged different sectors to cooperate in this awareness drive to achieve a clean and disease-free city.
A statement from the municipality said it is important for the society to participate in preserving the general cleanliness and the appearance of the city.
Health and environmental education that starts at home and extends to general establishments and industries is also very important to achieve these goals.
