Consumers in the Middle East are increasingly considering energy efficiency and environmental impact when purchasing home appliances, according to a local industry source.

As details of the state of the environment continue to emerge, and the cost of running a household increases, brand savvy consumers in the UAE are increasingly demanding environmentally friendly appliances.

A recent survey found washing clothes at 30 degrees centigrade saves around 40 percent on energy consumption, helping to reduce the demand for fossil fuels, which in turn reduces global warming.

“With all the informed discussion taking place these days, people are much more aware of the environmental impact of their actions. Many people understand that implementing simple measures around the home helps to reduce their energy bills and their impact on the environment,'' said Ajai Kumar Dayal, General Manager – Retail and Marketing, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG).

“It is interesting to see that people are asking more questions with regard to energy efficiency and conservation, which is something we are really pleased about. We have a whole range of products from manufacturers who have been the leaders in this area for some time, and in a way, are only now being recognised for their investments in this area of concern,'' added Mr. Dayal.

Better Life, part of the ESAG Group, is the exclusive distributor for Fisher and Paykel in the UAE and the GCC, and will be one of the key exhibitors taking part in this week's Hometech 2008 exhibition in Dubai.

“Better Life is very proud of our affiliation with Fisher and Paykel. The company has an international reputation for innovative household appliances that are developed with technology, design, user friendliness and environmental awareness in mind,'' added Ajai Kumar Dayal.

Better Life has experienced consistent year-on-year growth since its inception in 2003. Now with five stores across the UAE and Oman, and two more under construction, Better Life's unique concept of providing consumers with a specialised retail experience has become a preferred choice for those shopping for the finer things in life.
