Abu Dhabi: Officials at the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) announced their campaign Wednesday to help spread Ramadan cheer to the needy.

"Our Ramadan campaign to help those in need will be comprehensive and two fold," said Ahmad Humaid Al Mazroui, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said.

"Firstly, it will organise the efforts of fortunate members of the society and businessmen who want to make contributions to the less fortunate people and families. Secondly, it will focus on helping deserving individuals both with the country and abroad."

Al Mazroui said the focus would be orphans, widows and deprived families with the hope of easing their suffering. "People from as many as 60 Arab and Islamic countries will benefit from the Ramadan efforts of the authority."

Donations can be made online or at RCA offices.

"The total budget for our Ramadan campaign [is] Dh21.5 million this year. Dh13.5 million will be used for fast-ending project, Eid clothing distribution and Al Fitr Zakat, Zakat and food parcels distribution," Mohammad Khalifa Ahmad Al Qamzi, General Secretary, said. "We hope to collect Dh116 million in donations during Ramadan."

The RCA gives away food, money and other support using contributions of kind individuals and organisations coupled with the dedicated efforts of the authorities volunteers.

Red Crescent Society is an excellent charity organisation. The work is too good and highly appreciated. Best wishes. Ramadan kareem.
