Dubai: Dubai Police have warned motorists against reckless driving behaviours that pose a serious threat to road users, stressing that such actions can lead to severe traffic accidents with serious consequences.

Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that several videos recently received from members of the public show drivers engaging in hazardous and irresponsible conduct that could have resulted in serious accidents and endangered lives.

He added that some of the most dangerous behaviours include failing to give way to faster vehicles approaching from behind, making sudden lane changes, tailgating without maintaining a safe distance, and deliberately obstructing other vehicles or forcing their way into lanes.

“These actions reflect a clear disregard for traffic laws and road safety,” he noted.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan emphasised that such practices are among the leading causes of serious traffic accidents, as they can result in sudden loss of vehicle control and increase the likelihood of chain collisions, potentially leading to severe injuries or fatalities.

He added that these behaviours can also escalate into dangerous confrontations between drivers.

He stressed that Dubai Police will take strict legal action against offenders, reaffirming that road safety is a top priority and will not be compromised under any circumstances.

“Any behaviour that endangers lives will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he continued.

He further noted that continuing such dangerous conduct not only puts drivers at risk but also endangers other road users, disrupts traffic flow, and undermines broader efforts to enhance road safety and community security.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan concluded by confirming that Dubai Police will continue to intensify both on-ground and smart monitoring efforts to address dangerous driving behaviours, urging motorists to recognise the risks of their actions and act responsibly at all times.
