Says Right-wing artist, Raghu Vyas, who held an exhibition in New Delhi recently
They believe that Indian art, from the painters to the art critics, is dominated by Left-wing ideologues who force their opinions about good art down people's throat.
To dislodge the 'Leftist' view of art and give their own idea of 'good art' , artists of Right-wing affiliation put up an exhibition of their own in New Delhi. And according to them, realism in art is one of the pre-requisites of good art. Quality of the canvas and the paintings is another.
The artists we are talking of is a group of 11 painters who have been devout practitioners of realism in the age of abstract art. Curated by painter Raghu Vyas, the exhibition of paintings were put up at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, New Delhi, recently.
Titled The Magic of Realism, the 34 paintings exhibited, tried to drive home the point that realism is a superior art form. According to Vyas it is the only real art.
Among other painters whose works were put up at the exhibition were Sanjay Bhattacharya, Vikender Sharma, Madhoor Kapur and Suman Gupta.
