Ras Al Khaimah: An Ethiopian housemaid was injured after attempting to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of a building in Ras Al Khaimah.
The woman jumped from her sponsor’s apartment, Major Waleed Kanfash, Director of Al Ma’murah police station said on Thursday.
The 20-year-old housemaid is being treated for multiple injuries at Sqar Hospital.
Her hips were dislocated and might require further surgery.
An eyewitness saw the woman stand on a chair and then throw herself from the second floor. The witness reported the incident to police, Maj Kanfash said.
Police and an ambulance rushed to the scene of the incident and took the woman to hospital.
The housemaid worked for an Arab family for three months.
The family told police their maid received good treatment and that they had no disputes with her.
They have been left shocked at her suicide attempt.
The case has been referred to the authorities to complete necessary legal procedures, Maj Kanfash added.
