Sheikh Mohammed congratulates young Emirati muezzin after Maghrib call to prayer

Dubai: Sunday evening’s Maghrib call to prayer at Zabeel Palace was unlike any other, resonating deeply through the walls of the iconic palace as a gifted young voice filled the air.
Nahyan Abdullah Abu Kadra Al Falasi, a young Emirati muezzin, raised the call in a voice so inspiring, it left an unforgettable impression on all who heard it.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, welcomed Nahyan after he completed the special call to prayer at the palace. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister, was also present.
“Muezzin Al Freej,” which translates to “The neighbourhood’s caller to prayer,” is a title given to Nahyan, who has become a rising star in the religious community.
His participation in the “Muezzin Al Freej” initiative reflects Dubai’s continued efforts to celebrate and honour Emirati heritage.
The initiative, launched under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan, aims to highlight the talents of young muezzins across Dubai.
The initiative, in its second edition, drew tremendous interest, with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai receiving over 1,700 applications for participation. A committee of experts held a coordination meeting to ensure fairness and transparency in selecting the standout participants.
A video shared by the Dubai Media Office showcasing Nahyan’s powerful recitation of the Maghrib call went viral.
