Dubai Police have designated seven sites across the emirate for the traditional Eid Al Fitr cannon firing, a cultural practice symbolising the celebration

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, Commander of the Cannon Team, highlighted the tradition's significance, stating it represents a cherished part of Emirati heritage.

“The Eid cannon is not just a ceremonial gesture—it represents a tradition that resonates deeply with Emiratis and UAE residents. It is a cherished part of our social fabric,” he said.

Historically, the cannon was used to signal iftar or Eid, particularly before the advent of clocks. Despite today's digital advancements, Dubai continues this meaningful tradition as a tribute to its cultural legacy.
