Dubai: The RAK Hospital, Ras Al Khaimah, distributed 500 iftar packages to taxi drivers in the emirate to acknowledge and appreciate their service. The packages contained ready meals for cabbies who are usually on roads during iftar time to stop by and end their fast with a nutritious meal. This annual Ramadan gesture was well appreciated by cabbies

Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO of the Arabian Healthcare Group and Executive Director of RAK Hospital said, “This is our gesture to encourage the Ras Al Khaimah cabbies who have been instrumental in bringing comfort in our lives, yet are rarely acknowledged. Many of them are away from their families so such programmes help in creating a bond within the community and make them feel loved. This is a small step to show gratitude towards the people who are highly committed to their job as they are always ready and willing to serve their customers even though they are fasting. “

He further added “This initiative is in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan. The ready iftar meal packages will help the cab drivers to break their fast during Ramadan while behind the wheel and help to reduce traffic accidents as the drivers’ speed up during iftar time to end their fast”.
