Dubai: As heavy rainfall and unpredictable weather conditions affected different parts of the UAE on Sunday, Dubai Municipality has intensified its emergency response efforts to swiftly manage rain-related incidents and ensure public safety.

UAE authorities have urged the public to stay vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and report any issues that could pose a risk to public safety.

Taking to social media, the municipality said its rapid-response teams are on high alert to address weather-related incidents.

“Our teams are on high alert for rapid response and resolution of weather-related reports and rainfall incidents,” the municipality said in a post on X.

Residents are encouraged to report rain-related incidents, especially water accumulation, through the Dubai Municipality App, via WhatsApp, or by calling the dedicated helpline at 800900.

The municipality reassured that its proactive approach aligns with Dubai’s vision of creating a more liveable and sustainable urban environment.

“Your safety is our priority,” the municipality stated in the post.

Motorists urged to take caution

Dubai Police have warned motorists to drive cautiously due to rainfall. In a message on X, the police urged drivers to stay informed through reliable weather sources and follow key safety measures, including:

  • Use low beam headlights

  • Check brakes after driving through water

  • Avoid valleys and flooded areas

  • Ensure windshield wipers are functioning

  • Reduce speed and stay away from the road’s edge

  • Use outside air settings to prevent windshield fogging

  • Follow weather updates only from official sources

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has also issued guidelines for driving in unstable weather. In a social media post, the RTA advised motorists to obey traffic signals, slow down to prevent skidding, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
