Quality tests for concrete

In order to ensure the quality of concrete used in construction works, Dubai Municipality has issued circulars to all building consultancy offices, contracting companies, piling companies and private laboratories regarding quality tests for concrete.

The circular, issued by Eng. Essa Al Maidour, Director of the Buildings and Housing Department, calls for conducting all the tests for concrete, such as static load test, solidity test for concrete blocks, integrity and sonic coring test and dynamic load test.

All the tests should be conducted at independent laboratories approved by the municipality, which should be recommended by the consultancy offices. Technical reports of all tests should be submitted to the Dubai Central Laboratory for approval.

The test results should be submitted to the control engineer during the inspection at the site before casting the bases for them to ensure that all the technical specifications are met before the work starts.
