A police officer has claimed that he possesses a 300-year-old Holy Quran.
Ali Abdul Rahman Darwish said it was handwritten and bound in leather.
"A close friend got it from abroad and gave it to me. Many people have come to me and admired the Holy Quran.
"The handwriting is very clear, and the writers must have spent at least a year writing it. I took it to the Islamic Museum in Sharjah which gave me details about its history. They said the paper it is written on is of excellent quality.
"The museum also offered me Dh20,000 for it, but I refused. I said they could keep it there for a month so that visitors can see it."
