Police rescue four UAE men from desert

Sharjah: The Sharjah Police’s air wing recently rescued four Emirati men whose vehicle got stuck in the remote Al Bata’ah area of Sharjah during an off-road excursion.

Colonel Arif Mohammad Al Shamsi, director of the Police Central Region, said the incident took place on Friday at around 8am.

A team from the air wing searched the area and found the men far from the main road. They had a cellphone, but no GPS device or map.

Colonel Al Shamsi urged the public to be well equipped with suitable communication devices when they go on trips to the desert.
