Police officials squabble
A private affair between two retired police officials and one of their wives is out in the open.
J.E. George, who held positions like head of telecommunications and computers in the police department and his neighbour and batchmate in upmarket Indiranagar has accused C. Dinakar, of entering his compound with his estranged wife, Sheila George, who lives upstairs.
Dinakar was DGP and Inspector General of Police (IGP), when forest brigand, Veerappan, kidnapped Kannada icon, Rajkumar, in 2000, and wrote a book making wild allegations against government officials.
George accused his wife, Sheila and Dinakar of adultery, attempt to murder, robbery and trespass. Sheila has also filed a case, accusing George of ill-treating her. Dinakar has taken anticipatory bail from a local court to avert arrest.
"I went there for three reasons. One, a woman was in distress, she is my employee since 2001," Dinakar said but added George was being used by the Karnataka government to settle scores against him because he had made several charges in his book : 'Veerappan's prize catch'. "The state government is thoroughly hostile to me. This is a ploy to fix me."
Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna dismissed the allegations as "baseless" and "regrettable."
