Customers paying by credit or debit card must pay an extra 1.65 per cent when they fill up at petrol stations across the country from September 1.

Petrol retailers Eppco, Enoc, Emarat and Emirates Petroleum announced the extra charge will be levied to offset bank administration costs.

Khalid Hadi, Enoc Group Brand and Marketing Manager, confirmed the new charges. Emarat has also started informing customers through its 172 service stations in Dubai and the northern emirates about the fee.

The fee, however, will not apply to customers who hold loyalty cards such as Select, Cash Plus and E-Cash (for Eppco/Enoc) and Emarat, Atheer, Safeer and Em-Cash cards for Emarat, the companies said.
