Dubai: Feastival, a homegrown organiser of fur-friendly events in the UAE, along with Expo City Dubai is hosting the inaugural Paw Power Challenge on April 5.

The Paw Power Challenge is a 2.5km dog race that will take participants across the pet-friendly destination, passing through the Al Wasl Plaza, which will be lit up with a stunning display. Dogs and their owners will need to conquer a series of obstacles, including water crossings, climbing, sliding, and jumping.

To ensure fair play (and no ruff competition), there will be four race categories, with three winners per category:

• Individual categories - Small and mini dogs (10kg and under), medium and larger dogs (over 10kg).

• Team categories – Team of up to six people with one small or mini dog (10kg and under) as well as a team with one medium and larger dogs (over 10kg)

The winners will be determined by speed, with the fastest dog and owner taking home an exciting prize. Those that come second and third will also receive prizes. After the race, all dogs are welcome to cool down in the paddling pools. To ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs, the team has entrusted the Pet First Veterinary Clinic to be on hand to assist.

Guests can explore the Race Village, featuring food and licensed beverage pop-ups as well as a market featuring pet accessories, treats and services. Families can also enjoy live bands, as well as a dedicated children’s area packed with fun activities for little ones.

In addition, the Feastival team will be welcoming adoption and animal welfare partners. Those looking to adopt not shop, can meet the team from Al Mayya K9 who will be coming with dogs looking for a forever home.

Taking place from 4pm until 11pm, with the main race kicking off at 6pm, the Paw Power Challenge will charge race participants Dh100 per person, or Dh50 per team of six, which includes a medal, refreshments and a certificate. Spectators can enjoy the event free of charge.
