Public holiday was declared to mark the day Pakistan became a nuclear power
Dubai: Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai will remain closed on May 28 due to public holiday in Pakistan to celebrate the Youm-e-Takbeer .
Youm-e-Takbeer marks the day when Pakistan became the first Muslim country and the seventh nation globally to possess nuclear capability.
Pakistan government also officially announced the public holiday to commemorate historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28,1998 at Chagai, Balochistan.
“Pakistan community based in the UAE is informed that the Embassy of Pakistan and the consulate will remain closed on May 28, being pubic holiday on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer,” read the Embassy notification.
