Pakistani schools in the UAE have announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-I examination 2001 of Islamabad's Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Arab-Pakistan School claimed second position in the UAE, with all the three top pupils being girls. Sadaf Qadeer secured 446 marks out of 550, followed by Farah Shafqat, 427, and Huma Azam Khan, 422.

The three top pupils in the capital's Islamia English School were also girls. Faseela Imdad Hussein came first with 414 marks, followed by Madah Aziz 400 and Aisha Fatima 394.

At The Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School in Sharjah the overall pass result was 52 per cent. The pass percentage in the Science group was 63.44 per cent, Arts 53.33 per cent and Commerce 28.57 per cent.

In the pre-Medical group, among girls, Madiha Naveed came first with 416 marks and Aroosa Almas second with 409 marks. Among boys, Zeshan Qamar came first with 409 marks and Mirza Salman Fareed second with 405 marks.

In the Pre-Engg. group, Iram Javed with 375 marks secured first position and Amina Shakil Ahmed came second with 357 marks among girls. Muhammad Tanvir Butt stood first among boys with 393 marks and Nadeem Akhtar with 330 marks was second.

In the Computer group, Sadia Mufti with 390 marks was first among girls, while Imrana Munawar with 374 marks came second. Haseeb Ahmed with 390 marks came first among boys and Syed Muhammad Ahtesham with 349 marks was second.

In the commerce group, Shadia Maqbool scored 378 marks and came first among girls, while Nazia with 340 marks came second. Among boys, Imran Butt scored 318 marks and came first, while Shahryar Tariq Sheikh with 302 marks came second.

In the Humanities group, Maliha Ali Dad with 367 marks was first and Safia Rani with 316 marks was second.

At the Pakistan Education Academy (PEA) an average pass rate of 86 per cent was achieved with male students achieving 85 per cent and female students 87 per cent.

Top student in the school was Sabeeta Salman who scored 448 marks, a pass rate of 81 per cent in the Science stream. In the girls' Science stream Nargis Durrani was runner up with 430 marks and Nadia Shahi, third, with 420 marks.

Mohammed Usman Riaz was the top male student with 431 marks (78 per cent) in the Science stream. He was followed by Qazi Aftab with 411 marks and Osama Khalid with 383 marks.

Top marks in the Commerce stream were achieved by Fatima Masood Wahab, who scored 402 marks, 73 per cent, followed by Mariam Masood Wahab with 390 marks and Zubaida Amad with 386 marks.
