Dubai: One more shopping mall in Dubai has introduced a ticketless paid parking system, moving towards a paperless parking experience.

BurJuman has announced the upcoming “Smart Parking System,” featuring Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to calculate parking fees.

This comes close on the heels of Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre introducing a ticketless and barrierless paid parking which was initially implemented in Dubai Mall last year.

BurJuman said it is also going to introduce a “Find My Vehicle” service to help visitors locate their parked cars.

Notices about the change have been placed around the parking area, and an announcement on the mall’s website reads: “Coming soon! ‘Smart Parking:’ Stay tuned as we upgrade your paid parking experience! Paid Ticketless System, Find My Car, Easy Navigation.”

Parking fee policy

However, no change in parking fee has been announced.

Parking has been free on Sunday and public holidays and for the first three hours on other days.

Each additional hour (or part thereof) costs Dh20

Cinema customers receive an additional three hours free with validation from the ticket counter.

There is a penalty of Dh200 for lost ticket or misuse of ticket and an overnight parking violation fee Dh250 per day.

Payments must be made at designated machines before exit, as no cashiers will be available at the gates.

With BurJuman joining the trend, more malls in Dubai are expected to adopt smart parking solutions, enhancing convenience for shoppers while reducing paper waste and congestion at exits.

Part of the Saif Al Ghurari Real Estate Group, Burjman opened in Bur Dubai in 1991 and is located next to a busy Dubai Metro station named after it.
