Oman says its students in U.S. are safe

A senior government official stated here yesterday that Omani students in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world are safe and there are no reports of threats to their lives.

"The Ministry of Higher Education is watching closely the circumstances surrounding Omani students studying in western countries and particularly in the United States following the recent events in New York and Washington," said Talib bin Isa Al Salmi, director general of scholarships at the ministry, in a statement broadcast by the country's electronic media last night.
