Dubai Police will soon start using digital radar guns called Al Jin, to catch speeding vehicles. Brigadier Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Director of Dubai Police Traffic Department, said the radar gun, which can record the offence digitally on video, will become operational next month.

Al Zafein confirmed that the radar will not produce a flash and is capable of recording up to 4,000 images from a distance of 100 metres.

He said that the first 14 radars will be installed in streets leading to the main roads in Deira and Satwa.

He said that after the radars become operational, the number of fines would increase, while urging drivers to abide by speed limits.
