DUBAI: After Fairgreen Inter-national School in Sustainable City, Dubai will have another eco-friendly school this September.
Located in Al Furjan, the Arbor School will offer the IB curriculum and incorporate a green syllabus as an integral part of its educational programme.
“Besides regular subjects, we will have lessons in eco-literacy, environmental justice and sustainability,” said principal Charles Grayhurst. “We want our students to become responsible citizens when they grow up and make significant contributions towards a sustainable planet,” he said.
Study material
The study material for the course will be sourced from United Nations Sustainable Dev-elopment Goals.
The school will cater to students from Foundation 1 to Grade 6. Classes for Grades 7 and 8 will begin from 2019. “We are offering a 50 per cent discount on admissions for the upcoming academic year. The annual fee for Foundation one and two is Dh28,000,” said Grayhurst.
All textbooks, study material as well as stationery will be included as part of the tuition fees. “We have decided to hand down books that are in good condition to the next batch. All notebooks and worksheets are made of recycled paper. We want to practise what we preach,” he says. A set of the uniform at the school is priced at Dh550.
