The Executive Board of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) made a new draw for the finals of the Asian under 19 championship, to take place in Tehran from November 12, following the protest of Kuwait who had paired against Iraq in the first draw.
The AFC, in its meeting in Beirut on Saturday, made a new draw that paired hosts Iran in the first group with Kuwait, Thailand, Japan and Oman while the second group consists of the UAE, South Korea, Pakistan, Iraq and China.
The UAE was paired in the first draw together with Korea, Japan, Iraq and Kuwait which was considered unfair as the UAE, Korea and Japan were the repesentatives of Asia in the last FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Malaysia in 1997.
The top four teams of the finals will proceed to the finals of the FIFA Cup in Argentina in 2001.
The UAE team is continuing its preparations for the finals in their external training camp in Tunisia.
