Naheef, seventh behind High Chaparral in the English Derby at Epsom in June, made light of his five rivals to win the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor, England yesterday.

The Godolphin colt was sent off a 6-4 favourite and he duly obliged trainer Saeed bin Suroor when posting a convincing victory under Frankie Dettori, who had only three hours earlier featured in a nail-biting five-horse finish at Goodwood racecourse.

Dettori's mount Firebreak dead-heated for fourth in the Group Two Celebration Mile won by Tillerman, the mount of British jockey's title contender Richard Hughes.

The three-year-old son of Charnwood Forest, trained by Saeed bin Suroor was asked for his effort one furlong from home by Dettori and though he ran on strongly he was unable to get to the front and eventually finished fourth in a dead-heat.

Tillerman was winning at Group 2 level for the first time, having been just touched off by No Excuse Needed in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot in June.
