The Al Bustan Palace Inter-Continental Hotel Muscat, owned by the Oman government, will undergo a major renovation which will result in a new millennium transformation for the sultanate's resort property.

The four-month renovation will rejuvenate the 198 guest rooms, 44 suites and 8 royal suites, restaurants and public areas and business centre, and a new spa will also be unveiled.

Bass Hotels and Resorts, which manages the property, will also carry out re-training of staff, who will take a long leave, to return at the beginning of September for the training. The property will be closed for business from June 1 to September 30, according to General Manager Issa Al Hajri, who is also regional vice-president of operations for Bass Hotels and Resorts, Oman.

Topped off by an impressive atrium with graceful Islamic arches, the hotel nestles in a tropical garden oasis, fringed by an unspoilt stretch of golden beach, with the rugged Hajar mountains providing a striking backdrop.
