Motorist told to pay blood money

The son of a prominent national businessman involved in a hit-and-run case in which an Asian woman was killed, will have to pay blood money and spend one year in jail.

The driver, N.B., will also have to pay Dh5,000 for speeding and damaging the vehicle, which is owned by another national, in addition to Dh500 for not reporting the accident to the police.

In a similar case, one more Asian died when a car driven by M.A. slammed into his car from behind.

M.A. was speeding when he suddenly swerved to switch lanes and collided with another car. The collision led to the death of the driver and the passenger was seriously injured.

The General Prosecution has ordered M.A. to pay Dh150,000 as blood money as well as compensation for the injuries sustained by the passenger.
