Al Wasl 1 Al Ain 0
Sharjah 1 Al Shabab 0

Al Wasl regained the top place in the First division table after beat Al Ain by a solitary goal scored in the 88th minute by Chilean striker Cristian Montecinos.

The goal was scored through a penalty kick after Al Ain defender Humaid Fakher brought down Montecinos inside the penalty area.

Referee Abdullah Al Banai pointed to the spot without hesitation and the Chilean made no mistake in converting the spot kick.

Al Wasl surged to the top with 20 points at the end of the league's first round, while Al Ain dropped to the sixth place with 16 points. They still have three games in hand.

Al Ain striker Joel Tehi of Ivory Coast missed a penalty kick for his team in the 24th minute when Al Wasl defender Ismail Rashid pulled down Arthur Moses of Ghana inside the box.

But Tehi came up with a weak shot, which was saved by the Al Wasl custodian, Ahmed Salim, to the corner and denied Al Ain a chance of going ahead.

The match was hard-fought with full of rough tackles. The referee Al Banai turned a blind eye in many cases which would have deserved a red card punishment. The referee flashed his yellow card only four times throughout the match.

Both the teams played cautious football for most of the time, with the defenders marking their rival strikers closely and tried their best in not allowing the strikers threaten the goalkeepers.
The scoring chances were very few in the first session and the goalkeepers were not tested at all through the first 45 minutes.

Al Ain dominated the second session with Al Wasl's former player Mohammed Omer, who signed recently for Al Ain, putting up a good performance for his new club.

Subait Khater of Al Ain was also in an excellent form. He created many scoring chances for his colleagues to exploit, but they couldn't capitalise on those opportunities.

In the second match played at Sharjah, Sharjah beat Al Shabab 1-0 through the goal scored by Iraqi Razaq Farhan in the second session. Sharjah moved ahead to the fifth place with 18 points while Al Shabab are rooted to the ninth place with 10 points.
