General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence, will inaugurate today the 58th General Assembly of the International Confederation of Military Sports (CISM). Representatives from 80 member-countries will attend the CISM.

Sheikh Mohammed will be honoured by the CISM for his great services and support to the Military Sports. The honouring ceremony will be held during the opening at Dubai Jumeirah Beach Hotel at 7.30pm.
The CISM will also honour Lt. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Lt. General Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Interior, Sheikh Butti Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed bin Obaid Al Maktoum, Lt Major General (R) Abdullah Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Col. Hasan Yousuf Al Nuaimi, Major Mohammed Yousuf, will also be honoured by the CISM.
The Giani Gola, Chairman, CISM, will hold a press conference today at Renaissance hotel in Dubai. He expressed his happiness with the UAE hosting the general assembly after Thailand, who was scheduled to host it, withdrew and said it could not host it in the near future.
"The UAE saved the situation following the withdrawal of Thailand."
Gola praised the UAE for organising the assembly. "The UAE is capable to host the meeting with 80 countries taking part.
"The UAE is a dynamic member in the CISM and is doing a lot of tremendous work to support the CISM activities."
