General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence and his son Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum crossed the finish line hand-in-hand to reign supreme in the fifth edition of the Wadi Rum FEI Masters International endurance ride here yesterday.
General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence and his son Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum crossed the finish line hand-in-hand to reign supreme in the fifth edition of the Wadi Rum FEI Masters International endurance ride here yesterday.
However, Sheikh Hamdan's horse Yamama had her nose in front of Qais, ridden by Sheikh Mohammed, who was timed a second behind the winner.
After Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum's horse Henley Farm Azzab was eliminated after being found lame, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan were always in front and gradually established a winning lead.
While Sheikh Hamdan led the first and fourth stage, Sheikh Mohammed led after the third stage while the two riders finished the second stage on level terms.
Sheikh Hamdan completed the ride in five hours 31 minutes and 20 seconds (average speed of 22.57kmph) with Sheikh Mohammed second while six other riders completed a UAE sweep.
